The 2021 Spirit Awards have been pushed back but will maintain their traditional berth on the eve of the Oscars and will take place on April 24, 2021.
Film Independent made the move after the Academy postponed the 93rd Oscars show on Monday to April 25, swiftly followed by a Baftas date change to April 11.
The Spirit Awards were originally scheduled for February 27.
In a statement Film Independent president Josh Welsh said, “The Film Independent Spirit Awards will take place on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Additionally, we will recognise films that were released between Jan. 1, 2020 and Feb. 28, 2021 in acknowledgement of the unique challenges the world of cinema, and the world as a whole, is currently experiencing.”
The Farewell was named best feature last year.
