30West has hired film investment and sales executive Maren Olson from CAA Media Finance as EVP, film on the eve of Cannes.
Olson will join the company this month and will work alongside fellow EVP Trevor Groth to manage the slate of projects which includes the upcoming The Trashers starring David Harbour from Cooper Raiff, director of Sundance hit Cha Cha Real Smooth, and the genre-bending thriller Day Drinker, to be directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man).
30West will be attending Cannes with Imperative Entertainment’s Competition selection Triangle Of Sadness from Ruben Ostlund as well as Agnieszka Smoczynska’s Un Certain Regard selection The Silent Twins which Focus Features has for the world.
The company’s market slates include revenge thriller reboot The Crow with Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs, which FilmNation represents for international sales and CAA Media Finance handles in the US.
30West is currently in post on an untitled Wildcat documentary, which will be released by Amazon Studios this autumn.
Olson spent the last seven years as an agent at CAA Media Finance and helped arrange financing on Dog starring Channing Tatum, The 355 and Scott Cooper’s upcoming The Pale Blue Eye starring Christian Bale, and Pussy Island directed by Zoë Kravitz and starring Channing Tatum.
Prior to that Olson served as president of Traction Media where she oversaw creative development, packaging, production, financing and sales on more than 80 films including The Secret In Their Eyes.
