The Academy has rescheduled its Covid-delayed, scaled-down 12th Governors Awards for March 25, two days before the 94th Oscars ceremony.
Samuel L. Jackson, Elaine May and Liv Ullmann will receive honorary awards and Danny Glover will collect the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
The honorary awardees receive an Oscar statuette in recognition of “extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy”.
The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award is also an Oscar statuette and is presented to “an individual in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry”.
The Governors Awards were originally scheduled for January 15, the month when Hollywood awards bodies postponed many of their events due to the Omicron surge.
