Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment (ILBE) has struck key territory deals at AFM on Tell It Like A Woman, a female-led anthology featuring Taraji P. Henson, Jennifer Hudson, Lucia Puenzo, Eva Longoria, Catherine Hardwicke, among others.
Deals have closed in Germany (Tiberius Film), France (Program Store), the UK (The Movie Partnership), Portugal (Nos Lusomundo), Australia and New Zealand (Signature), and worldwide airlines and ships (Gate 23 Entertainment).
Offers are in for Spain, Scandinavia, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Latin America, South Korea, India, China and CIS. Julie Sultan, president of ILBE’s distribution group, negotiated the deals.
Samuel Goldwyn Films previously acquired US rights to the film which comprises seven segments encompassing drama, comedy, docudrama and animation. Segments include Lagonegro directed by Puenzo and starring Eva Longoria, Elbows Deep directed by Hardwicke and starring Cara Delevingne, Marcia Gay Harden and Jasmine Luv, and Pepcy & Kim directed by Taraji P. Henson and starring Jennifer Hudson and Pauletta Washington.
The project is the result of a collaboration with We Do It Together, a non-profit production company that advocates for gender equality founded by producer Chiara Tilesi, who serves as producer on Tell It Like A Woman alongside Andrea Iervolino, Lucas Akoskin and Monika Bacardi.
The filmmakers will mount an Oscar campaign for 13-time Academy Award nominee Diane Warren’s song Applause.
“The underlying messages of this film are very global and the tremendous responses we’re seeing from distributors around the world reflect this as an endorsement for these impactful messages,” said Iervolino. “Star power travels and in this case, very relevant and important themes travel alongside the amazing females who shaped this film.”
