After closing key territory sales at AFM on action thriller The Silent Hour AGC Studios has cast Sandra Mae Frank and Mekhi Phifer alongside previously announced Joel Kinnaman and Mark Strong ahead of a late February production start in Malta and Toronto.
Brad Anderson is directing the story about a Boston police detective who suffers an on-the-job accident which causes him to slowly lose his hearing. Sixteen months later he and a friend and partner (Strong) must thwart Lynch (Phifer) and a team of corrupt cops as they try to kill a deaf murder witness (Frank) in her apartment building.
AGC Studios is financing and producing The SIlent Hour with producer Eric Paquette’s Meridian Pictures. AFM sales last November were led by deals with Square One in Germany, Signature Entertainment in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, Wild Bunch in France, and Vertice in Italy and Latin America.
Frank can currently be seen in NBC hit series New Amsterdam and her credits include NBC’s Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Netflix series Daybreak, and ABC’s Switched At Birth.
Phifer is best known for 8 Mile, Apple+’s Truth Be Told, and the Divergent franchise.
Katie McGrath of KMR & Associates negotiated the deal on behalf of Frank alongside Gersh and Brookside Artist Management on behalf of Phifer, and AGC Studios SVP of legal and business affairs Anant Tamirisa.
