Former eOne executive Alex Hamilton has been appointed CEO of Studiocanal UK, starting from April 22, 2020.
Hamilton will report to group CEO Anna Marsh. He replaces Nicola Shindler in the role. Shindler, who was appointed in September 2018, becomes chief creative officer for the company, as well as retaining her position as CEO of Studiocanal-owned television company RED.
Hamilton was most recently president, international, film and managing director of eOne UK. He worked at the company from 2008-2019, with full overall responsibility for acquiring and promoting feature films including the Twilight and Nativity! franchises, I, Daniel Blake, The Death Of Stalin, and Oscar best picture winners 12 Years A Slave, Spotlight and Green Book.
eOne UK grossed over £725m at the UK box office during his tenure, making it one of the country’s leading independent distributors.
Maxime Saada, chairman and CEO of Canal+ Group and chairman of Studiocanal said, “Alex’s experience and in-depth knowledge of the UK market are essential assets to accelerate the development of Studiocanal in its ambition of becoming a leader in the production and distribution of European films and series.”
