Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón has signed a multi-year deal with Apple in what the streamer said was a highly competitive situation.
The pact calls for the Mexican auteur – who won best directing, cinematography and foreign language Oscars this year for Roma – to develop TV projects exclusively for Apple TV+ through his production company Esperanto Filmoj.
Cuaron is expected to partner with longtime partner Anonymous Content and other collaborators on select projects.
The content creator’s producing partner Gabriela Rodriguez will run day-to-day operations at Esperanto Filmoj, based out of London.
Apple TV+ launches on November 1.
