Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider, The Danish Girl) will star in The Marsh King’s Daughter, a psychological thriller directed by Oscar nominee Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game).
STX International is handling distribution rights outside North America and will introduce the project to buyers at this week’s EFM in Berlin. STX will distribute the film directly in the UK and Ireland.
Based on Karen Dionne’s best-selling novel, the film follows a young girl who has a dark secret about her incarcerated father.
Director Tyldum’s credits also include Headhunters and Passengers starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence.
President of STX International David Kosse said: “The Marsh King’s Daughter is one of the most hypnotic thrillers you’ll ever experience, much in the vein ofThe Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl, and who better than Morten Tyldum to direct this psychologically gripping story into a complex yet riveting tale about captivity and redemption.”
Also on STX’s upcoming slate are Mile 22 starring Mark Wahlberg and Adrift with Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin.
