Samuel Goldwyn has acquired US rights from Seville International to Allure (formerly A Worthy Companion) starring Emmy nominee Evan Rachel Wood.
Carlos and Jason Sanchez wrote and directed the drama, which premiered in Toronto and stars Wood as an emotionally unstable woman who starts a relationship with an unhappy teenager.
As the rebellious woman and innocent youngster find solace in each other, the mutual attraction spirals out of control. Julia Sarah Stone and Denis O’Hare round out the key cast.
“The Sanchez Brothers have a rare eye that allows the great performance of Evan Rachel Wood to play to thrilling heights,” Peter Goldwyn, president of Samuel Goldwyn Films, said.
Kim McCraw and Luc Déry’s micro_scope produced Allure, which also screened in Busan.
“Carlos and Jason are visionaries and we are excited to partner with Samuel Goldwyn Films to share this, their debut film, with US audiences,” Anick Poirier, senior VP of sales at Seville International, said. “Allure is engaging and visually striking and we are thrilled to continue our longstanding relationship with Luc and Kim with this standout film.”
Goldwyn and Poirier negotiated the deal.
