Amazon Studios will co-produce a TV adaptation of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel Of Time with Sony Pictures Television.
Rafe Judkins, whose credits include Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Chuck, will adapt the fantasy novels for TV and will act as showrunner and executive producer.
The one-hour series will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video.
The 14-book series, which has sold more than 90 million copies worldwide, is based in a world where magic exists, but only women can use it.
Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon of Red Eagle Entertainment, Ted Field and Mike Weber of Radar Pictures (Beirut, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) and Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After) are executive producers. Harriet McDougal is a consulting producer.
The news was announced by Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke at Prime Video launch event in London today (Oct 2).
At the event Amazon also announced an overall deal with author Neil Gaiman.
