America Ferrera will make her feature directorial debut on the Netflix film I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter for Anonymous Content and Macro.
Based on Erika L. Sánchez’s novel of the same name, the YA drama tells of a strong-willed Mexican American teenager who must hold her family together when her sister is killed in an accident.
Linda Yvette Chávez (Gentefied) adapted the book and Anonymous Content optioned the rights under the company’s first-look deal with Aevitas Creative Management.
Anonymous Content’s Doreen Wilcox Little, Macro’s Charles D. King and Poppy Hanks, and Aevitas Creative Management’s David Kuhn are producing.
