Apple Original Films has announced the exclusive worldwide theatrical release of Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon in partnership with Paramount, opening limited on October 6 before a wide expansion on October 20.
No date was given for when the crime epic and anticipated awrds season contender will drop on Apple TV+ although Screen understands there will be a substantial exclusive theatrical window with several sources citing 45 days. Apple did not offer further comment.
Killers Of The Flower Moon is widely tipped to premiere out of competition in Cannes, where Thierry Fremaux would revel in a potentially star-studded red carpet in support.
The film stars Scorsese regulars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, as well as Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, and Tantoo Cardinal.
Eric Roth and Scorsese adapted the screenplay from David Grann’s book of the same name about a string of brutal murders of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation in 1920s Oklahoma known as the Reign of Terror, which led to the formation of the FBI.
Apple Studios produced alongside Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way. Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Daniel Lupi serve as producers and DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Adam Sommer, Marianne Bower, Lisa Frechette, John Atwood, Shea Kammer and Niels Juul serve as executive producers.
