Apple TV+ has landed a feature documentary about British seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
The film will feature full access to Hamilton and his team on and off the track and a cast of guest interviews. Hamilton will produce alongside Penni Thow, Box to Box Films, and One Community. Former HBO head Richard Plepler serves as executive producer through his Eden Productions with Scott. Matt Kay will direct.
Hamilton, regarded by many in the sport as the greatest of all time, is a trailblazer who became the first black man to win the F1 championship in 2028. The Mercedes team driver narrowly missed out on the 2021 championship late last year to Dutch driver Max Verstappen. The 2022 season starts on March 18 in Bahrain.
The Lewis Hamilton documentary joins Apple’s slate of recently announced non-fiction programmes including They Call Me Magic about basketball icon Earvin “Magic” Johnson set to premiere on April 22 and a documentary about Sidney Poitier on which Oprah Winfrey serves as executive producer.
