The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) has appointed Ellen Johnson in its new director of communications role.
Joining the senior management team, Johnson’s role will focus on bringing Bafta activities to a global audience. She will report directly to Bafta CEO Amanda Berry.
Johnson’s prior work includes both agency and client-side experience for companies including Barclaycard. She was recently head of marketing and communications for Comic Relief, where she was responsible for campaigns including Red Nose Day and Sport Relief.
Also on the Bafta senior management team alongside Johnson and Berry are Kevin Price, chief operating officer; Clare Brown, director of production; Emma Baehr, director of awards and membership; Tim Yates, director of finance; Tim Hunter, director of learning and new talent; Louise Robertson, director of partnerships; and Julian Shaw, director of Bafta 195 Piccadilly.
Berry said: “With a hugely successful career in marketing and communications to date and her invaluable experience within the sector, Ellen will be responsible for bringing the BAFTA brand to life and sharing our activity with audiences around the world.”
