The Bafta Film Awards will take place at London’s Royal Festival Hall, as of next year’s ceremony, set to take place on February 19, 2023.
The awards have been held at London’s Royal Albert Hall for the past six years, and will now take place at the same venue as Bafta’s TV and games awards. Previous venues also include the Royal Opera House and the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square.
A statement from Bafta said: “The move will see Bafta programme its most ambitious and accessible night yet, bolstered by a refreshed production and format.”
Entries for the awards are open as of today (September 21), with nominations to be announced on January 19, 2023. Once again, the festival will be broadcast by the BBC, with the ceremony host to be announced at a later date.
As of 2021, the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall has also been the venue for the BFI London Film Festival’s red carpet galas.
The new CEO of Bafta, Jane Millichip, will take up her role next month.
