UK sales outfit Bankside Films has boarded Rebekah Fortune’s Learning To Breathe Under Water with Rory Kinnear and Maria Bakalova attached
Bankside is handling worldwide sales and will introduce the title to buyers at next week’s European Film Market (EFM, February 16-22).
Currently in pre-production, the film follows a grieving widower and his son whose lives are uplifted by the arrival of a Bulgarian au pair. It is based on a screenplay from Richard Brabin.
Jack Tarling at UK production company Shudder Films, behind God’s Own Country and Await Further Instructions, is producing the feature; Bankside’s Stephen Kelliher and Sophie Green are executive producers.
Fortune’s 2017 debut feature Just Charlie won the Junior Ecrans award at Cannes, the audience award at Edinburgh and was nominated for two British Independent Film Awards (Bifa).
Bankside also recently acquired Ido Fluk’s feature Köln 75, about one of the best-selling jazz records of all time, from Berlin-based Holy Spider producers One Two Films.
