Belfast Film Festival (BFF) is introducing a new international feature competition for its upcoming edition (November 3-12), as well as a shake up of the programming team.
For the first time in the festival’s 22-year history, BFF will have an international feature competition for first or second features, with a total prize of £10,000. An international jury of filmmakers and industry professionals will award a prize of £7,000 to the director of the best film, alongside jury prizes for outstanding craft contribution and breakout performance of £1,500 each.
Film critic Jessica Kiang is taking on her first programming role, as programmer for BFF’s international selections. She is a regular on festival juries and adjudicated the main competition at the British Film Institute (BFI) London Film Festival 2021 and the main competition at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) 2021.
Rose Baker will lead BFF’s UK and Ireland film programming. She is the co-founder and director of Northern Irish festival Wanda: Feminism & Moving Image and has held positions including assistant programmer and short film programmer for BFF and has worked for Docs Ireland.
