The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) has announced the nominations for its annual AACTA International Awards and Belfast and The Power Of The Dog lead the way on seven and six, respectively.
Fourteen features compete in seven film categories, with a number of Australians nominated: Nicole Kidman earned two best actress nods for Being The Riccardos and TV series Nine Perfect Strangers; Kodi Smit-McPhee got a supporting actor nod for The Power Of The Dog; and Cate Blanchett supporting actress recognition for Don’t Look Up.
Shaun Grant and Justin Kurzel were nominated for their work on Nitram, as were Australian producers of Nine Perfect Strangers for Best Drama Series, Nitram and The Power Of The Dog for Best Film.
In the TV categories Succession and The White Lotus share the most nods on three apiece: Succession for Best Drama Series, Australian lead Sarah Snook and Jeremy Strong; The White Lotus for Best Comedy Series and Australian lead Murray Bartlett and Jennifer Coolidge.
AACTA CEO Damian Trewhella said: “It’s hugely encouraging to see so many Australians nominated, and feature on the international stage. We wish them the very best of luck along with all the nominees, and look forward to seeing the results early in the new year.”
The 11th AACTA international awards will be presented virtually on January 26 Los Angeles time and January 27 in Australia.
