The Romanian Film Centre/CNC Romania has confirmed that Radu Jude’s Berlin Golden Bear winner comedy Bad Luck Banging Or Loony Porn will be Romania’s official Oscar submission.
Magnolia Pictures will release the film in US cinemas on November 19. Filmed entirely during Bucharest’s lockdown, the film follows a high school teacher struggling with the fallout of her sex tape leaking online. Katia Pascariu stars.
microFILM Romania produced Bad Luck Banging Or Loony Porn and Paul Thiltges Distributions (Luxembourg), endorfilm (Czech Republic) and Kinorama (Croatia) served as co-producers in association with Bord Cadre Films (Switzerland), Sovereign Films (UK).
Ada Solomon is producer and co-producers are Thiltges, Adrien Chef, Jiří Konečný, Ankica Jurić Tilić.
The comedy most recently screening at New York Film Festival and marks the third year in a row that Magnolia has released Romania’s Oscar submission after Collective last year and The Whistlers the year before.
