Version Originale/Condor and Jour2Fete co-acquire heist thriller.
Sebastian Schipper’s Victoria has been co-acquired by Version Originale/Condor and Jour2Fete for French distribution, following its recent US acquisition.
The crime thriller played in competition at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, where it won a Silver Bear for cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grovlen as well as the German Art House Cinema Prize and the Berliner Morgenpost Readers’ Jury Award.
Sold by The Match Factory and made by Monkeyboy production, the film is shot in a single take and centres on Victoria, a runaway party girl, who is asked by three men to join them for a night of partying – which turns into a bank robbery.
Paris-based Jour2Fete heads Sarah Chazelle and Etienne Ollangier said of Victoria: “We were completely immersed in the viewing experience and after living through the story with the characters we can’t wait to bring this thrilling Berlin experience to audiences in France.”
It marks the first collaboration between Jour2Fete and Version Originale/Condor, launched last year by former EuropaCorp distribution executive Eric Le Bot.
A French release is being eyed for late June-early July.
