Following their successful collaboration on Scottish thriller Calibre, German sales powerhouse Beta Cinema and Screen Star of Tomorrow 2014 Jack Lowden are partnering again on new thriller Corvidae.
Beta Cinema has taken global rights excluding North America to the psychological thriller, which is directed by Joe Marcantonio and stars Lowden, Tamara Lawrance and Fiona Shaw. UTA will handle the North American sale.

The cast also includesd Chloe Pirrie and Edward Holcroft, and Marcantonio – who makes his feature directing debut – co-wrote the script with Jason McColgan. The film will be shot entirely in Scotland in April 2019. Lowden produces with Dominic Norris through their new Scotland-based production banner Reiver Pictures. Executive producers are Gareth Wiley of Phoenix Wiley and Norman Merry of Lipsync Productions.
Tassilo Hallbauer, Beta Cinema’s VP of sales and acquisitions, commented: “The script of Corvidae is a real page turner. I was struck by its richly drawn characters, eerie atmosphere and surprising twists. It’s a bold and unique debut. With this terrific cast on board, Corvidae has great potential to become an international hit.”
Norris said: “Corvidae is a suspenseful thriller that explores the disturbing and very real themes of ‘gaslighting’ and ‘psychosis’. We have a hugely talented cast and a visionary director. Beta and UTA are fantastic partners who saw early on the film’s strength in reaching and connecting with international audiences.”
Marcantonio said: “My aim is to make an original and truly engaging film that stands out from the crowd. We have all the right ingredients in place within the script, and we are blessed with the most phenomenal cast, led by Tamara, Jack and Fiona. I am so excited to be setting out on this production with such brilliant collaborators and cannot wait to start shooting.”
