Digital transfer to form part of the BFI’s 2014 Science Fiction project.
Stanley Kubrick’s landmark epic 2001: A Space Odyssey will return to cinema screens across the UK on Nov 28 when the BFI, as part of its 2014 Science Fiction blockbuster project, releases a digital transfer from Warner Bros.
With a screenplay co-written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke and developed concurrently alongside Clarke’s novel of the same name, the 1968 feature is widely regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.
The BFI’s Science Fiction Film blockbuster will be presented over three months (Oct-Dec 2014) with a historical and thematic exploration of the best of this perennially popular and visionary genre. The UK-wide release of 2001: A Space Odyssey will form part of the programme that will be to be revealed in July.
