Matimba Kabalika, NETWORK talent development manager at the BFI, is joining UK film and TV talent agency Troika as talent development executive from early September.
She will work with existing clients to help develop new work and will also help bring in new clients with a particular focus on diversity, both in front of and behind the camera.
According to Troika, Kabalika will also be involved with seeking out potential collaborations for the agency and its parent company, the James Grant Group, which has clients that span the entertainment, factual, specialist, social media and sports media industries.
Kabalika joined the BFI in 2012 and helped to establish the UK-wide talent development programme BFI NETWORK which showcases and funds new work and talent. She has worked with emerging filmmakers including Sandhya Suri, Aleem Khan, and Rungano Nyoni.
“At Troika we are always looking for new ways to add value and improve on the service we provide our clients,” said Harriet Pennington Leigh, director, Troika. ”Having Matimba on board to drive this venture will give us a formidable new string to our bow. Matimba’s reputation for identifying and supporting talent is second to none and we feel very lucky to have snagged her.”
Troika’s clients include writer-actor Michaela Coel, writer Charlie Covell, and actors Paddy Considine, Lena Heady, Ruth Wilson and Michael Fassbender.
