Georgia Oakley’s feature debut Blue Jean has been acquired for Scandinavia (NonStop Entertainment), Poland (New Horizons), Eastern Europe (HBO) and in-flight (Aard Wolf), and is nearing sell-out for London and Paris-based sales agent Film Constellation at AFM.
As announced today, the drama has been nominated for 13 awards at the upcoming British Independent Film Awards (Bifas).
Blue Jean stars Rosy McEwen and follows a teacher living during Margaret Thatcher-era Britain, forced to live a double life because of her sexuality.
The Venice premiere has previously sold to the UK and Ireland (Altitude), North America (Magnolia Pictures), Australia and New Zealand (Madman), France (UFO), Benelux (Cinéart), Germany, Austria and Switzerland (Salzgeber), Spain (Filmin), Latin America (Synapse) and Taiwan (Filmware).
The film is produced by Hélène Sifre of the UK’s Kleio Films with backing by BBC Film and the BFI, in association with Great Point Media.
