The Moët British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) has set the date for this year’s ceremony.

The BIFAs has revealed that the 17th edition of the awards will be held on Sunday Dec 7, 2014. Nominations will be announced on Nov 3. Moët & Chandon will return as sponsor for a fifth year.

The announcement coincides with the opening of film submissions for the awards (click here for eligibility details).

Metro Manila was the surprise winner at the 2013 awards, scoring a hat trick of prizes including Best Achievement in Production, Best Director and Best British Independent Film. 

The awards were created by Raindance in 1998 in a bid to celebrate merit and achievement in independently funded British filmmaking, to honour new talent, and to promote British films and filmmaking to a wider public.
