Andrew Dominik’s Blonde will be the surprise film at this year’s edition of San Sebastian, following its world premiere at Venice.
The Marilyn Monroe biopic will screen on the festival’s closing night, Saturday (September 24), with the film’s lead Ana de Armas and Dominik in attendance.
Blonde is based on the book of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. It also stars Adrien Brody and Bobby Cannavale, and is produced by Plan B’s Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Brad Pitt, alongside Tracey Landon and Scott Robertson. Netflix has worldwide distribution.
As well as playing in competition at Venice, it has also screened at Deauville American Film Festival.
