LA-based Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to Asia-set action film, Gi, directed by the Philippines’ Pedring Lopez.
Produced by Lopez’ BlackOps Studios Asia in association with Psyops8 Productions, the film is scheduled to start production in Indonesia this spring. The cast includes Indonesian action stars Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhian, who both appeared in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and The Raid 2.
The story follows a female assassin who is forced to fight Jakarta’s most dangerous gang, the Palembang, in an attempt to rescue her mother. The actress playing the female assassin will be announced soon.
Producers on the film include Lopez, Rex Lopez, Scott Rosenfelt (Critical Thinking) and Maia Yambao-Lopez (Maria).
Lopez’ credits include female-centric action pic Maria, starring Cristine Reyes, which Netflix acquired for worldwide distribution.
Blue Fox is also selling Lopez’s thriller Counterplay, produced by Rosenfelt, Michael McDermott and Andy Green, which is set to star Sam Worthington.
