Blue Fox Entertainment has launched AFM sales talks on TIFF selection Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The coming-of-age film is written and directed by Aitch Alberto and features breakout performances from young leads Max Pelayo and Reese Gonzales alongside Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, Veronica Falcon, and Kevin Alejandro.
Based on Benjamin Alire Sáenz’s YA novel, the film centres on the friendship between two teenage Mexican-American loners in 1987 El Paso who explore a new, unusual friendship and the difficult road to self-discovery.
Blue Fox’s head of international, Lisa Gutberlet said, “We saw this beautiful film in Toronto and instantly fell in love with it. A story about the profound power of first love and friendship, it feels both of the moment and timeless and we’re so truly honored to bring it to audiences around the world.”
First-time feature filmmaker Alberto added, “I’m excited to be working with Blue Fox to get this special tale to the rest of the world. I’m confident Ari and Dante will transcend language and culture, while also unlocking the hope of magic in all of us.”
Producer Lin-Manuel Miranda added, “I first fell in love with Ari and Dante and their beautiful story a few years ago when I read the novel and fell even deeper when I narrated the audio book. After speaking with Aitch about her singular vision for the film, I quickly realised my job was to help this get made. I am so ecstatic to be a producer on this wondrous coming-of-age story.”
