Blue Fox Entertainment will kick off international sales talks at AFM on the uplifting drama Mending The Line starring Succession’s Brian Cox alongside Sinqua Walls and Patricia Heaton.
Joshua Caldwell (Infamous) directed the drama about a young soldier (Walls) returned from Afghanistan who befriends a Vietnam War veteran (Cox) at the same medical facility who teaches him fly fishing as a way of dealing with physical and emotional trauma.
Stephen Camelio (The Push) wrote the screenplay and Perry Mattfeld (In The Dark, Shameless) and Wes Studi (The Last Of The Mohicans, Dances With Wolves) round out the key cast. Walls has appeared in this year’s Sundance winner Nanny and Heaton’s credits include Carol’s Second Act and Everybody Loves Raymond.
Mending The Line was made with the support of a Big Sky Film Grant from Montana Film Office. The production also partnered with US Marine Corps Entertainment Media Liaison Office and US Department of Defense.
Carl Effenson (Mudbound) of Artimage Entertainment, Kelly McKendry of August Point Productions, and Scott MacLeod of CKM Entertainment serve as producers with Caldwell and Camelio. Cox and Walls are among an executive producer roster than includes Mark Comora, David Comora, Kyle David Crosby, Roger Goff, Brett Cravatt, Keith English, Robert Ogden Barnum, and Rick Sasner.
Blue Fox Entertainment is handling world sales outside the US and Canada. The film won the Valor Award at San Diego International Film Festival given to a military-themed film that conveys the impact of war on the human condition.
Blue Fox head of international Lisa Gutberlet said, “We’re honoured to work with the Mending The Line team to bring this very real story of overcoming trauma and finding the joy in life to the international marketplace. Lead by the incredible performances of Brian Cox and Sinqua Walls, this remarkable cast has brought to life a powerful story about the innate strength we all possess – a story will resonate with audiences from all walks of life.”
Caldwell added “Mending The Line speaks to universal themes of trauma, resilience, and finding something to live for and we believe this film can have far reaching appeal across the globe. From our very first conversation it was clear that Blue Fox Entertainment was both passionate and enthusiastic for this story and we’re incredibly excited to be partnering with them to bring this film to audiences worldwide.”
