Streaming service and 50-50 BBC Studios and ITV joint venture BritBox International will launch in the Nordic region in a distribution partnership with C More.
Subject to regulatory clearances and other conditions the platform specialising in British television will become available in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway in early 2022 and brings the number of territories where the service operates to eight including UK, North America, Australia and South Africa.
C More will distribute BritBox directly in Sweden, Denmark and Finland and TV 2 will distribute in Norway. Further information about launch date, pricing, and programming will be announced at a later date. Non-C More subscribers will also get the opportunity to subscribe directly to BritBox in the region.
BritBox International CEO Reemah Sakaann, who assumed her role in April, said the Nordics were “our next step in global expansion, underlining our confidence in the ever-growing popularity of British programming and the distinctiveness of BritBox”.
“British drama has been loved and appreciated in the Nordics for generations, and it is therefore a huge privilege to give our viewers this unique access to the great collection on BritBox,” said C More head of commercial Anna Chrona. “Through the partnership with BritBox we secure a substantial volume of content, including classic crime favorites and exclusive premieres of new BritBox originals for our customers to explore.”
