Brittany Snow, the Pitch Perfect franchise star whose acting credits include Hairpspray, will make her feature directorial debut on the drama September 17th for Yale Productions, whose newly minted sales stablemate Great Escape is kicking off talks with EFM buyers.
The project is based on an original story by Snow, who co-wrote the screenplay with Becca Gleason about Riley, who has recently been discharged from rehab after struggling with food and body image issues. Riley soon meets Ethan and finds herself navigating the line between unconditional love and a new addiction.
Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman are producing under their Yale Productions alongside Lizzie Shapiro (Shiva Baby, Mickey And The Bear) through her The Space Program. Executive producers include Great Escape president Nick Donnermeyer, Michael Rothstein, Jesse Korman and Jeffrey Tussi.
Production on September 17th will start this spring. Donnermeyer will represent worldwide rights and introduce the film to buyers at the virtual market next week.
Snow will soon be seen in Ti West’s SXSW selection X alongside Mia Goth for A24. Snow previously directed the 2019 short film Milkshake and is represented by The Gersh Agency and Principal Entertainment LA.
Yale Productions falls under the Yale Entertainment umbrella and is in post-production on two features which their Lafayette Pictures partner Katie Holmes directed and starred in: Alone Together with Jim Sturgess and Melissa Leo, and Rare Objects with Derek Luke and Alan Cumming.
Yale has been consistently producing since the pandemic began. Becky starring Lulu Wilson and Kevin James was released in June 2020 and the company’s credits include Joe Penna’s Stowaway starring Anna Kendrick and Toni Collette, which Netflix acquired; and Separation with Rupert Friend, Brian Cox and Madeline Brewer for Open Road.
