Buffalo 8 has picked up Goa International Film Festival Of India best film nominee Magoado and will commence sales on the Spanish drama at EFM next week.
Magoado will debut on Prime Video, Vudu and on demand on February 24 and centres on a fisherman hiding out on the Brazilian coast who is visited by his estranged son. The cast includes Diego Alvarez and Dorleta Urretabizkaia.
Ruben Sainz wrote and directed the Spanish and Portuguese-language film and said the story reflected “one of the most important things in life: family”. Producers are Karmele Barandiaran, Janek Ambros, and Alex Loynexz of Assembly Line Entertainment.
Buffalo 8 is handling the US release and will engage in talks with international buyers Berlin.
Ambros said. “Ruben did such a great job with capturing Brazil and using minimalism to tell this character-driven story of redemption; it’s great to work with other companies taking chances on films outside of the traditional domestic landscape.”
