Premiere Entertainment Group (PEG) has closed key sales on action thriller Commando, starring Mickey Rourke and Michael Jai White.
Deals have been done for Germany (Tiberius), Latin America (California Filmes), Australia (Rialto), Japan (New Select) and Scandinavia (Scanbox).
Asif Akbar directed the film, which PEG also produced, in which White plays a DEA agent who returns with PTSD after a botched mission, He has to protect his family from a home invasion when a recenty released convict (Rourke) and his henchmen come after their stash of millions hidden inside the agent’s home.
Deals have also been done at the EFM with Inolmedia in South Korea, Variety in Italy, Eagle Films in Middle East, and Kinologistika in Russia, Three Lines Pictures in Benelux, Films4You in Portugal, Creative Century Entertainment in Taiwan, ATV in Turkey, Media Squad in Poland, Cine Entertainment in India, Falcon Pictures in Indonesia, Horizon Film in Malaysia, Spentzos in Greece, and Redhead Global for pan-African rights. Additionally, PictureWorks has bought airlines rights.
Commando opened in select theatres and on VoD in North America last month via Saban Films, which will also distribute in the UK via partner Altitude.
Jeff Fahey, Brendan Fehr, Gianni Capaldi, and UFC fighter Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone round out the key cast. Akbar directed from a screenplay by Koji Steven Sakai. Elias Axume produced for Premiere Entertainment alongside Al Bravo, Sakai, Akbar, and Philip Tan.
Among the Premiere production slate are Black Warrant starring Tom Berenger, and thrillers Locked In with Mena Suvari and Night Of The Sicario starring Natasha Henstridge, both of which opened in the US via Saban and Paramount for home entertainment.
