With AFM less than three weeks away, Capstone Global has bolstered its senior sales team and appointed Sophia Aronne vice president of international sales and distribution, effective immediately.
Aronne, a former executive at The Exchange and Highland Film Group, will report directly to CEO and chairman Christian Mercuri and head of acquisitions Ruzanna Kegeyan.
Her arrival comes at a busy time for Capstone, whose upcoming AFM sales slate features Stefon Bristol’s post-apocalyptic thriller Breathe starring Sam Worthington, Jennifer Hudson and Milla Jovovich; Moritz Mohr’s dystopian thriller Boy Kills World with Bill Skarsard, Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery and Brett Gelman; and John Woo’s action thriller Silent Night starring Joel Kinnaman and Scott Mescudi aka Kid Cudi.
“Sophia’s extensive experience in the global marketplace makes her a perfect fit to represent our slate,” said Mercuri. “Her vast industry relationships and understanding of distribution partners needs will be an asset to Capstone.”
At The Exchange, Aronne handled films including Peacock’s Meet Cute starring Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson, The Independent starring Jodie Turner-Smith, Brian Cox, Ann Dowd and John Cena, documentary Welcome To Chechnya, and Sundance selection The Biggest Little Farm.
She previously managed international marketing for Highland Film Group and was also a member of the sales team, working on the Escape Plan franchise starring Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista; Joe Carnahan’s Boss Level with Frank Grillo, Mel Gibson, and Naomi Watts; Vaughn Stein’s Terminal starring Margot Robbie; Osgood Perkins’ The Blackcoat’s Daughter starring Emma Roberts and released by A24; and Braven with Jason Momoa.
