Los Angeles- and London-based finance, production and sales outfit Capstone Group and Los Angeles-based production company Bold Films have announced a worldwide sales partnership heading into Cannes.
Effective immediately, Capstone will represent the Bold Films catalogue and make 15 titles available straight away, including Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive, Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash, and Dan Gilroy’s Nightcrawler.
Capstone president and CEO Christian Mercuri said, “David is positioning Bold Films for continued success in this ever changing market and we at Capstone are excited for the opportunity to begin working with he and his team.”
“We are thrilled to begin a highly valued relationship with Christian and Capstone,” said Bold Films’ David Litvak. “This is the first important step in an aggressive effort to monetize the Bold library.”
Mercuri formed Capstone Group in 2017 and before that he sold, financed and produced more than 150 features in his career, with projects ranging from The Wolf Of Wall Street to The Expendables and Dumb And Dumber To.
Capstone recently opened a London office headed by vice-president of sales Pia Patatian, who will attend Cannes with Mercuri. Three of the company’s recent features shot in and around the UK capital include Come Away starring Angelina Jolie, David Oyelowo, Michael Caine; The Courier with Olga Kurylenko and Gary Oldman; and The Postcard Killings from Danis Tanovic, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Bold’s most recent releases include Neon’s music-drama Vox Lux starring Natalie Portman and Jude Law; Bleecker Street’s Colette starring Keira Knightley and Dominic West; and Lionsgate’s Stronger with Jake Gyllenhaal.
