Beijing-based sales agency Blossoms Entertainment returns to Hong Kong Filmart – the company’s first physical market since 2019 – with a trio of new film titles, including Delicious Romance and The Ex-File 4, both from Chinese studio Huayi Brothers.
Delicious Romance is adapted from 2021’s hit TV series of the same name, which streamed on Tencent Video and Netflix. It reunites directors Leste Chen and Hsu Chao-Jen with the same main cast members Li Chun, Zhang Hanyun and Naomi Wang from the original series. The story continues to follow three best friends as they lean on each other through setbacks at work and in love.
The Ex-File 4 sees Han Geng and Zheng Kai reprise their roles as two yuppie buddies who stumble their way through courtship to marriage in this latest instalment of the beloved franchise. Ex File: The Return Of The Exes, which grossed $279m (RMB1.94bn) in 2017, is still China’s top grossing romance film. Director Tian Yusheng is behind the entire Ex-File franchise, all presented by Huayi Brothers.
Delicious Romance will open on April 15 in China, while a third quarter release is expected for The Ex-File 4.
The third title on Blossoms’ slate is family fantasy drama Molly, backed by Canno Studio, a subsidiary of Alibaba Picture Group. Directed by Chang Jung-chi (We Are Champions), the film follows an introverted 10-year-old girl who embarks on an adventure to find her missing father, only accompanied by a robot that he designed.
