AGC Studios has attached rising star Chloe Bailey to play the lead in its Wall Street drama Midas Touch based on the true story of ground-breaking Black Wall Street trader Lauren Simmons.
Simmons made history in 2017 when she became at 22 the youngest equity trader on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and only the second African American woman to hold the position.
Numa Perrier (Jezebel) is directing Midas Touch based on Simmons’ life rights optioned by AGC, and she co-wrote the screenplay with Amber Dupre (Loki). Perrier developed and produced AGC’s rom-com The Perfect Find starring Gabrielle Union and Gina Torres for Netflix that will debut in 2023, and is in post-production on The Perfect Find for Netflix starring Union.
Simmons serves as executive producer on Midas Touch as do AGC Studios chairman and CEO Stuart Ford, AGC chief creative officer Lourdes Diaz, and EVP of production Glendon Palmer.
Bailey’s credits include Jane, black-ish, and grown-ish. CAA negotiated on behalf of Bailey with AGC’s SVP of legal & business affairs Anant Tamirisa and Palmer on behalf of AGC.
