Cia Edström will step down as head of industry at Göteborg Film Festival in autumn 2022, while keeping a senior role at the festival to focus on the strategic development of its TV Drama Vision conference.
Edström started working at the festival’s ticket office in the 1990s and has been head of industry since 2005.
In that role, she was in charge of developing the Nordic Film Market, launching the TV Drama Vision conference as well as being one of the originators of the Nostradamus project, a multi-year initiative analysing industry changes.
The festival will start a recruitment process for her successor soon.
“It has been a truly inspiring and enriching professional journey over the years, which I am very grateful to have shared with my brilliant colleagues at the festival. I now look forward to deepening my focus on the world of drama series and open the door to new challenges,” said Edström.
“Cia Edström has played a key role in the development of Göteborg Film Festival for several decades [and] leaves a market and an industry platform that is progressive and has high international relevance,” added Mirja Wester, CEO of Göteborg Film Festival.
