A Chinese version of film industry database Cinando is to launch at Filmart.
Cinando.cn will make its debut at the Hong Kong film market (March 24-27) and all films and participating companies will be presented on the site in both English and Mandarin.
The Chinese version of the industry database is being launched in partnership with the Chinese Film Market and with the support of the MEDIA programme.
The next events covered by this new version will be the Beijing and Shanghai film festivals ahead of the Cannes Film Festival and its Marché du Film, the founders of Cinando.
“With this new initiative, Cinando hopes to facilitate knowledge of industry players in China, and other countries,” said Jérôme Paillard, executive director of the Marché du Film.
“The systematic approach allowed by the database, which already counts a thousand mainland Chinese members, will make it easier to identify potential collaborations between Chinese and international partners. It is a first and necessary step towards the development of coproductions and economic exchanges between the Chinese film industry and the rest of the world.”
Cinando.com was launched in 2005 and states it has 49,000 registered members and 10 million pages viewed per year. A total of 20,000 companies and 28,000 active films and projects are listed on the site, with more than 5,000 films are also viewable through an online screening room.
