New US theatrical distributor Cohen Media Group (CMG) has acquired US rights to My Afternoons with Marguerite (La Tête en Friche), Jean Becker’s comedy starring Gérard Depardieu.

Based on Marie-Sabine Roger’s book of the same name, the film centres on a man who lives simply in a caravan at the bottom of his mother’s garden until he meets an old lady who helps him see that he can take control of his life.

CMG, formed by real estate developer Charles S Cohen, entrepreneur Edmondo Schwartz and former HBO executive Steve Scheffer, previously acquired Rachid Bouchareb’s Outside the Law, Algeria’s submission for the foreign-language film Oscar.
