Content Film has acquired all foreign rights to Concussion, following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday [19].
The directorial and writing debut of Stacie Passon, the cast includes Robin Weigert (The Sessions), Maggie Siff, Johnathan Tachikovsky, Julie Fain Lawrence, Emily Kinney and Laila Robins.
As well as Sundance, where it screened in the US Dramatic section, it has also been selected for Berlin’s Panorama, where it will screen next month.
RADiUS-TWC acquired domestic rights to the film earlier this week.
The film centres on a disillusioned housewife Abby (Weigert) who suffers a blow to the head and reinvents herself as a prostitute for women.
Produced by Rose Troche and executive produced by Anthony Cupo and Cliff Chenfeld, the deal was inked by Ben Weiss from Paradigm and Andre Des Rochers for the production, and Jamie Carmichael and Rick Kwak for Content.
Last year, Concussion was chosen for the Independent Feature Project’s narrative lab. It also received the Adrienne Shelly Director’s Grant and the Calvin Klein Spotlight on Women Filmmakers Live the Dream Grant at the Gotham Awards.
Content will be selling international rights at next month’s Berlin market.
