Roy Button, Senior Vice-President and managing director of Warner Bros. Productions, has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the film industry, as part of Her Majesty The Queen’s 2009 Birthday Honours List.
Button, who has been in the film industry for 40 years, joined Warner Bros. in 1993. As head of physical production for Warner Bros. Productions Ltd, Button is responsible for all Warner Bros.films based in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
In his role, Button organises the crew, budget,production schedule and locations for each film under his remit. He also runs Leavesden Studios, where he has overseen the production of the Harry Potter franchise, and whereWarner Bros. Productions is now based. There, he has been involved with the renewal and renovation of Leavesden as a leading studio, including future training opportunities in the UK.
He also manages a number of film-related training programmes and is currently on the board of the FITB (Film Industry Training Board), which offers work placements on feature films.
Since joining Warner Bros., Button has supervised successful film projects, such as Sweeney Todd, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory as well as the forthcoming Sherlock Holmes and Clash of the Titans.
