EXCLUSIVE: Mark Cuban’s 2929 backs road-trip heart-warmer sold by Embankment.
Dakota Fanning (The Twilight Saga) and Helen Hunt (The Sessions) are on board to star in road-trip movie Please Stand By, from The Sessions director Ben Lewin and producers Daniel Dubiecki (Up in the Air) and Lara Alameddine (Money Monster) .
International sales are handled by London-based Embankment Films, which will be taking the film to the Cannes Marche this month.
Fanning will play Wendy, a brilliant young woman with autism who escapes her care home on the road-trip of a lifetime in order to deliver a script she has written to a Hollywood competition.
Wendy is pursued on her journey by her no-nonsense carer Scottie (Hunt).
Written by Michael Golamco (Grimm), producers are Dubiecki and Alameddine of new LA-based outfit The Allegiance Theatre, which is currently producing Jodie Foster thriller Money Monster starring George Clooney.
Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban’s 2929 Productions are financing.
CAA are handling the US sale.
