Pathé and Twentieth Century Fox have set the date for the UK release of Danny Boyle’s new film, Trance.
The thriller, starring James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson, will open in the UK on 27 March.
Trance is a psychological thriller about a fine art auctioneer, mixed up with a criminal gang, who join forces with a hypnotherapist to recover a lost painting.
Boyle, who oversaw the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony and last directed 127 Hours in 2010, said: “After a mad summer with London 2012, it’s great to get back to the day job; treachery and intrigue on the screen rather than behind-the-scenes.
“I wanted to do something different, mix things up a bit, and I think Trance does that - it’s a twisting psychological thriller and I hope an entertaining ride that people will enjoy watching and arguing about afterwards.”
The film re-unites Boyle with many of his frequent collaborators including screenwriter John Hodge (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave) and Underworld’s Rick Smith who has composed the original score.
Trance is a Pathé, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Film4 presentation of a Cloud Eight/Decibel Films production. The film is produced by Christian Colson (Slumdog Millionaire). Executive producers are Bernard Bellew, Francois Ivernel, Cameron McCracken, Tessa Ross, Steven Rales and Mark Roybal.
