French comic Dany Boon and Gemma Arterton are among a raft of talent to join Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston and Luke Evans on the Netflix comedy Murder Mystery, which commences production this week.
The ensemble cast includes Luis Gerardo Mendez, Shioli Kutsuna, David Walliams, Adeel Akhtar, John Kani, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Terence Stamp.
Filming has kicked off this week in Montreal and will take place in locations throughout Europe ahead of a 2019 worldwide release.
Murder Mystery stars Sandler as a New York police officer who takes his wife (Aniston) on a long-promised European trip.
When a chance encounter with a mysterious man (Evans) on the flight gets them invited to an intimate family gathering on a super yacht, the couple become implicated in the murder of the vessel’s elderly billionaire owner.
The project marks Sandler’s sixth with the streaming giant under their deal, and reteams him with Aniston after 2011 comedy Just Go With It. Boon’s one man show Dany Boon: Des Hauts De France launched on Netflix last month. Mendez stars in and produces Netflix’s first Spanish-language original series Club de Cuervos, currently in production on its fourth season.
Kyle Newacheck directs from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Sandler’s Happy Madison is producing with Endgame Entertainment, and Vinson Films
Sandler serves as producer alongside Allen Covert, Tripp Vinson, Jim Stern, and Jamie Vanderbilt.
