IMAX and Vue partner on first commercial IMAX theatre for Denmark.
IMAX Corporation and exhibitor Vue International have secured an agreement for an IMAX theatre to be added to the CinemaxX multiplex in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The deal marks IMAX’s first commercial theatre agreement in the country. The only previous presence was at the Omnimax Tycho Brahe Planetarium.
IMAX EMEA president Andrew Cripps said: “With its strong movie-going culture and growing exhibition industry, Denmark is a very promising market for us,” and added that it would be “the biggest screen in Scandinavia”.
Vue took on the CinemaxX chain (Germany and Denmark) in 2012.
IMAX now has 934 theatres in 62 countries.
