UK genre specialist Devilworks has scored multiple deals on Marc Carreté’s alien encounter horror After the Lethargy.
KSM has taken up rights for Germany, Austria & Switzerland; San Chi Film for China and Taiwan; Doki Entertainment for Korea; and Take1 for Benelux and Scandinavia.
US-based Vertical Entertainment has picked up the film for a theatrical release in North America from August 16 under the alternative title of Alien Invasion.
Devilworks acquired the title for worldwide sales ahead of the European Film Market this year.
After The Lethargy is Carreté’s second feature film as a director after his 2014 Asmodexia. It is his first English-language title. He also wrote and produced the film under his companies After The Lethargy AIE and Creatures of the Dark, alongside co-executive producer Charles Hamilton.
It stars Andrea Guasch and Joe Manjón as a young journalist and a park ranger as they investigate extraterrestrial encounters in an old war shelter deep in the forest.
The film premiered at Brazil’s Fantaspoa International Fantastic Film Festival, and has since been shown at events including Spain’s Terror de Molins, Argentina’s Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre and London Sci Fi Film Festival.
