EXCLUSIVE: Pascal Diot has been appointed managing director for Pole Image de Liege, the Belgian audio-visual centre.

Diot also continues to serve as head of the Venice Film Festival’s market and managing director of Frontieres, the Belgo-Quebecois film market that focuses on genre films.

Diot’s previous posts include positions at TF1, Tele-Hachette, UGC, Pathe and his own company IDPL.

PIL was recently re-funded by its reference shareholders Invest Minguet Gestion, MeusInvest and Wallimage Entreprises.

Diot said: “The team at PIL has undertaken a tremendous amount of work since 2010 and set the basis for building a leading audiovisual center. We now have to focus on positioning PIL as a key player in the global film, television and digital industry.”

PIL chairman Laurent Minguet said: “We have won the battle of creating a real ‘one-stop shopping’ audiovisual industry by transforming an old tobacco factory into a dream factory. 90% of the 17,000 square meters which we converted are now occupied by nearly 40 companies involved in the sound and image industry.

“With the arrival of Pascal Diot, we want to move forward from lodging companies to a real creative transmedia hub at the forefront of the digital industry, not only in Belgium but also in Europe and all around the world.”
