Strong performances by Frozen and Thor 2 drove first fiscal quarter 2014 results for Disney as revenues gained 9% on the same period a year earlier to reach $12.3bn, beating analysts expectations of $12.25bn
Net income climbed 33% on the comparable period to $1.8bn.
Revenues at the studio division drove the result, increasing by 23% to $1.9bn as operating income climbed 75% to $409m.
Other divisions delivered solid results. Media networks revenues powered by ESPN gained 4% to $5.2bn, while net income climbed 20% to $1.5bn.
Revenue from the parks and resorts division increased 6% to $3.6bn. Results were for the first fiscal quarter 2014 for the period ended December 28 2013.
