EXCLUSIVE: Vertigo picks up Sundance hit Safety not Guaranteed from Independent Film Company for a November release in the UK.
Vertigo Films has picked up Sundance comedy Safety not Guaranteed from Independent for distribution in the UK and Ireland.
The deal was struck between Rupert Preston of Vertigo Films and Andrew Orr of Independent.
Mark Duplass, Jake M Johnson and Aubrey Plaza star in director Colin Trevorrow’s debut about three reporters on assignment to interview a man who believes in time travel.
The Big Beach Films production, which grossed $3.8m in the US, gets a UK release on November 23. The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, where it picked up the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award.
Preston said: “Safety Not Guaranteed is one of the stand-out indie films of 2012 and we’re delighted to be working with Big Beach Films and Independent on the UK Release”
Orr added: “Safety Not Guaranteed is a real crowd-pleaser that audiences have been enjoying in North America this summer. The film played brilliantly in Sundance London so we are delighted that a commercial and bold company like Vertigo will be releasing in the UK & Eire”.
